EVANS TO MAKE HIS DUESOUTH XTERRA DEBUT IN KNYSNA

South African mountain bike marathon champion Kevin Evans will make his DUESOUTH XTERRA debut on Thursday, 08 July 2010 when he takes on the DUESOUTH XTERRA Knysna  presented by REHIDRAT® at the magnificent Pezula Private Estate.

According to Evans, XTERRA Knysna will be his very first off-road duathlon.  “I use to race road duathlons when I was still at school and really enjoyed it.  I live between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay so I am familiar with all the mountain bike routes in the surrounding area.  I am not too sure what to expected from the run disciplines though and will just have to take it as it comes.   I have only heard good things about XTERRA, so I decided to give it a go.  My plan is to just have fun,” says Evans. 

XTERRA Knysna is the only DUESOUTH XTERRA event that does not feature a water discipline.  Athletes can participate individually or in teams of two.

DISTANCE:                     DUESOUTH XTERRA FULL:  3km trail run, 25km mountain bike and 7km trail run
                                          DUESOUTH XTERRA Lite:  3km trail run, 12km mountain bike and 3km trail run 
START:                            DUESOUTH XTERRA Lite:  10h00
                                          DUESOUTH XTERRA FULL:  12h30
RACE BRIEFING:         15 minutes before the start of the race at Field of Dreams

Late Entries:  Athletes still wanting to enter can do so on Wednesday, 07 July 2010 from 12h00 - 20h00 and on Thursday, 08 July 2010 from 06h00 to 09h00 (Lite) and 06h00 to 11h00 (FULL) at Pezula Field of Dreams however, a late entry fee will apply.

Prizes up for grabs include:  a magnificent KTM Ultra Fire mountain bike, two Orca tri-suits, six pairs of New Balance running shoes (three men’s and three ladies) and six New Balance hampers (three for XTERRA Lite and three for XTERRA Full).

XTERRA BACKS THE WORLD CUP ~ in celebration of the Soccer World Cup,  XTERRA will be giving away a R5 000 DUESOUTH voucher to the ‘best dressed’ participant, support-team or most spirited supporter.  Dress in the colours of your favourite country, show that you have spirit and win!
