  • On their 25th anniversary, the Clanwilliam Freshpak Fitness Festival was more successful than ever, with the triathlon event sold out the night before the event. In the triathlon event husband and wife couble Kent & Claire Horner took first place. Maretha Combrink won the ladies duathlon event and Dawid Visser won the mens event.

  • In the opening event of the 2011 BSG/Energade triathlon series held at Roodeplaat Dam Pretoria, Richard Murray had his second win in the BSG/Energade triathlon series which could not have been a better start for this elite athlete in the superb form that he is currently. Andrea Steyn, the defending ladies champion proved once again that she would be very difficult to beat in this form of racing. Both athletes racing for the BSG elite team could not have opened this season any better.

  • Midmar Dam welcomed almost 1000 athletes to the FUTURE LIFE K-SWISS MIDLANDS ULTRA TRIATHLON that took place on March 6th. This event also doubled as the SA Long Course Triathlon Championships contested over a distance of a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21km run.

Carla van Huyssteen was a force to be reckoned with in the womens race.

  • The fourth edition of the Spec-Savers Ironman 70.3 South Africa produced two new champions in the form of Frederik van Lierde (BEL) and Jodie Swallow (GBR) under trying conditions. What started out as a pleasant race morning with relatively calm water soon became a tough challenge for all the athletes as the winds rose and the rain started to take its toll.

  • Andrea Steyn and Erhard Wolfaardt seem to be making sure that they will be crowned overall BSG Energade Sprint Triathlon Series winners on 5 December with their third consecutive victory in the series on Sunday 31 October at Midmar Dam. Steyn still remains undefeated, having opted out of the first race at Roodeplaat Dam on 10 October. That race was Wolfaardts only defeat.

  • Erhard Wolfaardt and Andrea Steyn made it back to back victories in the 3rd BSG/ENERGADE Triathlon Sprint Series race in Germiston on Sunday 24 October. First out of the water in the 600m swim was Jeff Norton (7:21), followed by Abrahm Louw (7:23), Erhard Wolfaardt (7:28) and then a group of five athletes, including Claude Eksteen and Hendrik de Villiers.

  • The Caveman is not done clubbing the XTERRA competition. Not by a long shot. Conrad “The Caveman” Stoltz of South Africa made history by winning the 15th Annual XTERRA World Championship for the fourth time. Stoltz, who celebrated his 37th birthday the day before the race, is the first pro to win four XTERRA world titles.

  • Andrea Steyn and Erhard Wolfaardt won the second of the 7-legged BSG/Energade Triathlon Sprint series in Potchefstroom on Sunday 17 October. The race was Steyns first since returning from Europe and was a good test of her fitness.

  • The Freshpak Fitness Festival is Cape Towns biggest multisport festival and is traditionally seen as the event that kicks off the triathlon season in the Western Cape. Over 800 athletes flock to the small town of Clanwilliam to take part in the wide variety of events on offer. Its a festive atmosphere at the Clanwilliam dam where many of the athletes camp for the weekend adding to the festive mood of the event.
