  • Local brothers race to the wire in exciting Midlands Ultra Triathlon
  • Yesterdays Midlands Ultra Triathlon came down to the wire, with the local brothers Anton and Brad Storm racing neck and neck over the final 15km trail run section. The lead changed 4 times over the 15km trail run route which then left the battle for the finish tunnel. Brad Strom eventually clinched first place but by only half a meter on his younger brother Anton.

  • A strong field of athletes at this years SA Long distance Champs saw an exciting race in both the men and womens event. Ironman legend Raynard Tissink took first place in the mens event, and Caroline Koll beat Kathryn Cronje by a narrow 2minutes to take first place in the ladies event.

  • The Troisport Joburg City Tri Series reached a capacity field this weekend to highlight how popular triathlon and the Olympic triathlon distance have become. Troisport series has grown tremendously from humble beginnings and has now become the must do events series in the country. The field gets deeper and stronger every event with all the main contenders taking part.

  • Club Mykanos in Langebaan is always a favorite venue for Western Province Triathlon Championships. in the mens event Richard Murray took 1st place followed by Dave Morison in 2nd place making a successful come back after a hip operation 1 year ago. Age group champion Tristan Kelly rounded up the podium positions.

  • Although the North West Province was plagued by extremely wet weather conditions on Saturday, 30 January 2010, it seemed to have no impact on South Africas top multi-sport and lifestyle athletes when a record field of close to 1 000 competitors swarmed to the magnificent Buffelspoort Dam to test their skills at the second leg of the 2009/2010 DUESOUTH XTERRA presented by REHIDRAT®. Dan Hugo was once again in top form to secure the individual mens title, while Susan Sloan was victorious in the individual womens category of the event.

Spectators cheered for new champions, Britain’s Fraser Cartmell and South Africa’s own Mari Rabie who broke the course and run records in the process.   • For the first time since the events conception, Totalsports Challenge competitors could only complete five of the action-packed seven disciplines when strong wind conditions forced event organisers to cancel the 12km surfski and 1.5km swim in Gordons Bay. Gale force winds and choppy sea conditions on Saturday, 09 January 2010, prevented competitors from taking to the water and caused an adrenaline pumping race start for the 50-km road biking section of the event.

  • The Erhard Wolfaardt show in the 2009 edition of the BSG Energade Triathlon Series came to an end this morning, November 29 when duathlon star, Richard Murray of Cape Town caused the upset of the series by beating the lanky Potchefstroom athlete in the sixth race of the competition at Pollock Beach in Port Elizabeth.
